Alcohol Restriction Intensified Following Hike of Death Toll

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Indonesian House of Representatives reportedly conducts continuous revision on the restrictions of implemented alcohol policies. Member of Representatives House, Refrizal made a statement that suggests the ironic fact of increasing death tolls caused by alcohol consumption.

“We have given the most rational form of restrictions on alcohol and despite the popular outcry, such decision is deemed necessitated for the prevention of escalating death tolls with alcoholic beverages consumption detected as the primary impetus. We have seen people died each day because of binge drinking,” Refrizal stated his remarks amidst Pro- Cons of Alcohol Regulation brainstorming session in the area of Cikini, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Saturday (3/10/2015).

Refrizal in his furthered explanation informs that regulations on alcohol distribution for the regional areas may appropriately follow the rules for that specified area as to the limits set for it.

The only difference now is that the regulation has been integrated with the central one and has been submitted to the Legislative Body of Representatives House who will play key role in determining the places that are conveniently acceptable for such beverage to be sold.

“We ought to manage alcohol policies in areas within Indonesian region by placing justifiable restrictions on its widespread distribution,” he concluded. (Akp/Ein)
